🇬🇧 English for DCG UE7 – Management des organisations

Build the English you need to succeed in Management, in French and in English.

Overview

This course is designed for DCG students tackling UE7 (Management des organisations) — a demanding 200-hour unit that culminates in a 4-hour written exam combining case-study analysis with a structured essay question. Many of the management theories, models, and business case studies you’ll meet are originally written in English, and the reformed programme now brings in current global themes — AI, sustainability, risk management — where English-language sources and vocabulary are especially useful. This course gives you the language skills and confidence to handle all of it.

Aims of the Course

– By the end of this course, you will be able to:
● Understand key management vocabulary and concepts in English (organisations, strategy, leadership, decision-making, structures)
● Read and analyse English-language case studies and business articles with confidence
● Discuss management theories — and current issues like AI and sustainability — in English
● Structure clear, well-argued written responses, a skill that transfers directly to the UE7 exam’s essay component
● Build a bilingual glossary of management terms to support your French coursework

Themes Covered
Mirroring the four-part structure of the reformed UE7 programme:
1. Context & Challenges of Management
What organisations are, their goals, stakeholders, and the factors shaping them 2. Functions Within Organisations
HR, production, marketing, and finance vocabulary and concepts
3. Strategy & Structure
Strategic diagnosis, types of strategy, organisational structures 4. Culture, Communication & Decision-Making
Corporate culture, leadership styles, and current issues: AI, sustainability, and risk management
Tips for Success
● Build a bilingual glossary as you go — keep management terms side by side in English and French so exam revision does double duty.
● Read short, real case studies in English regularly (even 10 minutes), especially on AI, sustainability, or risk in business — these are now core UE7 themes.
● Practise explaining concepts out loud in English, in your own words — this builds real fluency and mirrors the reasoning skills the written exam demands.
● Work on essay structure, not just vocabulary — DCG UE7 is one of the more “literary” papers in the DCG, so practising a clear problematic, plan, and argument (in either language) pays off.
● Don’t translate word-for-word — focus on understanding the concept first, then find the natural English expression for it.
